Part 1 - Introduction
Watch this video first! This video introduces the indicator and the 3 colonial regions.
Part 2 - Mercantilism, Geography & Economics
Part 2 will cover the geographical and economic characteristics of the 3 regions
Part 3 - Politics
Part 3 will cover the concept of salutary neglect, and how politics was shaped in the 13 colonies
Part 4 - Religion
Part 4 will discuss the various religions in the 3 regions, and key religious people you will need to be able to identify.
Card Sort Activity
This activity can be done individually, in groups, or as a whole class.
Whole Class - Instructions on slide 1.
Each student will be given a characteristic card. Students will move around the room to the area designated for their characteristic's particular region. Students will read their card aloud. Students should be prepared to justify their answer.
Groups - Instructions on slide 2.
Place characteristics in a pile, face down. Each student in the group will take turns choosing a characteristic and sorting it into one of the 3 regions. Students will help check each other's answers using their knowledge of content and their notes.
