SeatingSeating charts are integral to ensuring good classroom management, particularly for new teachers. There are lots of websites and tools out there. The one I utilize in my classroom is called Instant Classroom by Super Teacher Tools.
You can create as many groups as you'd like. I love that this allows me to put students' names in and move the students around. I use this to make seating charts for class as well as for state testing. I also have an editable Google Doc that I print with the students' names for each block. I cut up the doc and tape it to the desk. This means 0 confusion about who sits in what seat, and makes it easy for students to find their new seat when they change. This doc also has a desk number and letter so I can pull popsicle sticks for questions and random grouping as well as A/B to help students for Think-Pair-Share and A/B partner activities |

Our school is insistent that students who are tardy to class sign a log, every time they are tardy. After 3 tardies, students are to get a referral. We (the 4000/4500 hall) have posted our tardy logs on the outside of our doors and students must sign the log before entering the room. The teacher checks to ensure that the student has signed the log before allow the student entrance to class. Students have taken to this and (for the most part) do this consistently without a fuss.
