Students will come prepared to class with necessary materials including their binder and a writing utensil. Students will also pick up ALL materials from entry table, including any missed assignments from previous days out of absentee bin, and their composition notebook.
Students will treat each other and the classroom property with respect. They will not put hands/feet on their peers or on the desks and chairs. Students will not sit on desks, tables, or teacher chairs/stools. Students will not go behind teacher desks or touch things on the teacher’s desk.
Students will treat each other with respect. This classroom is a place where mistakes are welcome and bullying/putting others down will not be tolerated. Do not concern yourself with the actions/grades of others unless you are congratulating your peers on growth/success. I will do my best to do what is right for every student in the room. Remember equity is not equality.
Headphones/ECDs are to be away and off. No use of ECDs/headphones will be allowed unless directed by me for a specific purpose. They should be used for that purpose only and put away immediately after. Violations of this policy will lead to removal of the ECD/headphones and discipline. Headphones should not be hanging out of shirt collars or looped around ears.
IDs are required to be worn around the neck or clipped to your shirt collar and VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES. IDs that are not on or visible violate ID policy and 3 violations result in a referral.
Students will be in their ASSIGNED seat when the tardy bell rings. Students not in their assigned seat will be marked tardy. 3 tardy violations results in a referral. Students should not be in any other seat than their assigned seat unless directed by the teacher.
The first 5-10 minutes of every class students should WORK SILENTLY on bell work assigned on the board. Students should retrieve materials upon entering classroom. Students will check promethean board and whiteboard for instructions and daily class agenda.
Follow all directions the FIRST TIME they are given. I should not have to repeat directions. Questions for clarification are always welcome.
Eating/Drinking is prohibited, except for water. Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action including but not limited to warning, refocus form, parent contact, guidance referral, administration referral or removal from class.

Classroom Teach To's - Behavior Expectations
You MUST follow these behavior teach-to's while in Mrs. Litcofsky’s classroom at all times. You MUST follow all Crestwood behavior teach-to's while in the classroom as well. Behavior is a key factor in learning.
IDs ● IDs must be worn around your neck and VISIBLE at all times before, during, and after class until you leave the building.
Entering the classroom/Before class begins ● Use the restroom before you come to class ● Enter the classroom quietly and courteously ● Retrieve any worksheets/note sheets from the entry table ● Place any work for me in the Homework Bin for your class ● Retrieve any missing work from the Absent Binder ● Sharpen your pencil ● Begin the bell work by copying the weekly log and getting started on whatever else is listed on the board.
Entering the classroom-Tardy/During Classtime ● Knock on the door and stand in the window where I and the class can see you. ● Enter the classroom quietly and courteously. Do not disturb the rest of the class. ● Complete the Exit/Tardy log. ● Retrieve any worksheets/note sheets from the entry table ● Move silently to your seat and begin the activity the class is working on. ● Raise your hand and wait for me silently if you need assistance. When your peers are tardy, the rest of the class should... ● Continue working on the activity, not address the person coming in. ● If the person is your seat partner, share with them a (WHISPER) brief explanation of what we are working on/where we are in the notes, if necessary.
Announcements (Loud Speaker) ● Immediately stop what you are doing and listen. ● Voices SILENT and mouths closed. ● Hold all questions until the end of announcements. ● When announcements are over, wait for my signal to resume activity.
Lecture Time ● Be active & engaged in the lecture by actively listening and copying notes. ● Students should raise hands if they have a question. ● Questions posed to the whole class should be answered by the class. ● Questions posed to an individual should be answered only by that individual. ● Bathroom passes will not be given during lecture time. ● Everyone is to be awake and taking notes. SLEEPING is NOT PERMITTED. ● Copying missed notes/completing other assignments during lecture is NOT PERMITTED.
Class Activity/Assignment ● Students may speak quietly (WHISPER) to those in their immediate surrounding ● During partner/group work students should talk quietly ONLY within their group. ● Students should not CHEAT or COPY answers on ANY assignment, however helping each other learn is encouraged. Help guide your peers to the correct answer. ● EVERY student must hand in their own work, unless a group activity which specifies 1 assignment per group has been given. ● You may use the restroom during this time with permission & a pass. ● Copying missed notes/completing other assignments is NOT PERMITTED during this time. Cellphones/Smartwatches/Headphones/Hats/Hoods ● Cell phones are NEVERpermitted to be used or charged in class. ● Headphones should only be used when doing independent work AND I have assigned you something requiring audio (video review, song interpretations). ● Hats/Hoods/Headwear should NEVER be worn in class. Hoods should be flat against your back, not half over your ears. Backpacks/Bookbags/Purses/Gym Bags etc. ● All above-mentioned items should be placed under your desk between your feet. ● Items should not be placed in the aisles, on desks, on neighboring chairs. ● During testing, all items should be placed at the front of the classroom or other designated location away from testing area. They must remain here until dismissal, unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.
Testing ● Electronic devices are not allowed in the testing room, unless off and in your bag or with the teacher. ● FOOD/DRINK are not allowed at your testing station ● Sit in your assigned seats. ● Tests will be administered on chromebooks/desktops. You cannot access other websites before, during, or after the test. ● EOC - Bring a book or non-content related work to complete unless otherwise instructed.
Fire Drill ● Exit the room in a quiet, orderly fashion. ● Walk quickly & SILENTLY in a SINGLE-FILE line to the designated meeting area. ● Leave the classroom, make an immediate right turn and move to the set of double grey doors. Exit right and turn right again. Walk between the 2000/4000 halls to the field passed the chicken coup/greenhouse. ● Form a single file line on the field and wait silently for me to take attendance and give other instructions. ● When instructed to return, walk quickly & SILENTLY in a SINGLE-FILE line to the same doors you exited through, and return to the classroom.
Exiting the classroom-During Classtime ● Raise your hand and ask courteously. ● Once given permission, complete your pass [Date, Where you are going] in YOUR agenda. ● Bring the pass and a pen to me. I will put the time and my signature. ● Complete the Exit/Tardy Log and leave the room. ● Go and come back promptly. Remember to be quiet in the hallways. Make no detours on your route. ● Do not disturb the class during this process. ● Only 6 passes to leave the classroom will be given per semester.
End of class/Dismissal ● I dismiss you not the bell & not the announcements. Wait for me to dismiss you. ● Excessive talking or disruptive behavior will result in the entire class being held.
